What happens if I exceed the weight of the dumpster?

At Big Skye Dumpsters, we strongly believe in fairness and transparency. Our pricing model is built on a ‘pay for what you use’ principle. If your load exceeds the dumpster’s weight limit, you won’t be charged a flat overage fee. Instead, you’ll only pay the additional cost for the extra weight based on the rates provided in our additional prices chart.

Are your services available on weekends?

Yes, we strive to accommodate to the customers’ preferred schedule, that's why we offer renting a dumpster, as well as deliveries and pickups seven days a week.

Do I need to be present during the dumpster delivery or pick-up?

While we prefer an adult to be present during dumpster delivery, it is not required. If an adult is unavailable, please clearly communicate any special notes regarding dumpster placement to our team. Our Big Skye representative will ask for your preferred location and will do their best to accommodate all requests, ensuring safety and adherence to the parameters of our equipment.

What types of waste are not allowed in the Dumpsters?

While our dumpsters accept many types of waste, we do not allow hazardous materials, which include items like motor oil, weapons, asbestos, sealed tanks or drums, chemicals, propane tanks, vehicle batteries, and pesticides. Some materials do require special handling fees such as tires and appliances.

What types of waste can you put in a Dumpster ?

Most non-hazardous solid waste can be placed in our dumpsters. This typically includes waste from home cleanouts, moving preparations, construction projects, and more. However, hazardous materials, certain electronics, and flammable liquids require special disposal methods.

Will the dumpster fit in my driveway?

Big Skye Dumpsters are available in various sizes and can often fit into tight spaces. Most driveways are at least 10 feet wide, providing ample room for our dumpsters. Our smallest option, the 15 yard dumpster has a footprint similar to that of a standard 4 door truck, while our largest dumpster is comparable in size to a 22 foot long trailer. Please inform us of any special considerations for confined space delivery to ensure we follow best practices.

Will the dumpster damage my driveway?

Depending on the equipment used, some dumpsters are mounted on a trailer, which won't damage your driveway surface. If a roll-off dumpster is utilized, we always place wooden boards underneath to protect the driveway during delivery and pickup.

Is there a weight limit for my dumpster rental?

Yes, each dumpster size comes with a specific weight limit to ensure safe transportation. If your load exceeds this limit, additional fees may apply. We can assist you in estimating the weight of your materials to help you select the appropriate dumpster and avoid any unexpected charges.

How high can I fill the dumpster?

Please make sure all contents are level with or below the top rails of the dumpster. This ensures the safety of our team while securing the tarp and during transport. Overfilled dumpsters may require us to remove some contents, and any extra work necessary for safe transport could lead to additional charges.

Do You Accept Clean Fill: Dirt, Rock, Concrete, Asphalt, Bricks, etc.?

It’s advisable to check with your Big Skye Dumpsters representative before ordering a dumpster for these materials. Due to our truck capacity and weight restrictions for safe transport, we must ensure that the amount of debris does not exceed a maximum of 5 to 6 yards. If approved, we can provide a 15-yard dumpster to be filled halfway. Please be aware that additional charges may apply for overfilled dumpsters or any extra work required for the safe transport of the contents.

What Should I Do When I Am Finished Loading the Dumpster?

Once you’ve finished loading the dumpster, simply call or text your Big Skye representative to schedule the pick-up. We can usually accommodate same-day pickups, but please allow 24 hours for scheduling. There’s no need for anyone to be present at the time of pick-up, but please ensure that the contents are level with or below the top of the dumpster. Additionally, move any vehicles or objects that may obstruct access to the dumpster. Our team will secure the contents with a tarp and check the area for any leftover debris before leaving.
